There are only TEN DAYS left for the Project 10 to the 100th by Google – and we’d love to have your help.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4kpn7WHLVM]
For the past few days, we at Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education & Research Institute, have been working on a suitable idea for Project 10 to the 100th by Google. In general, Google is looking for ideas to help make the world a better place, and we would love to see that happen.
After all, we are now in the midst of an economic crisis, which is one of the many problems that the world is witnessing today. So, we will be using Kabbalah Blog to create an opportunity for meaningful discussions about the world problems and any solutions that may be possible.
For the next ten days we will be posting our ideas for the Project 10 to the 100th, and we’d love to hear your comments on them, and any ideas of your own. Let’s start a dialog on the most important thing in the world – helping the world itself.

Man, what a great idea! With the world markets crashing all around us, I can’t think of a better contest to be involved in! Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
hi, I’ve been thinking about it for some time and I don’t understand, how to approach Google – because Google looks at all world’s problems egoistically (i.e. they don’t realize that all problems are coming from within each person), they are going to look for egoistic ideas “to help the world”, such as – creating new kind of fuel, etc. – things that will not help anyone, unless people start realizing that they have to unite, have to change their perspectives.
so, what could we suggest to Google?
something that will somehow help to show all of us that we have to change. something so convincing, clear and obvious, that it will make everyone say “wow, this is what we have to do!”
it looks very symbolic that such initiative (“to help the world”) is coming from a company that has tremendous resourses in the most important areas – people’s connection, information exchange. Google and BB could do a lot together, without a doubt. But somehow we have to convince them we are the people they should talk to.
What can we offer – in particular – to reach our goals in helping other people? Maybe we should ask Google to support informationally the project “virtual world of Kabbalah”, that Rav has recently mentioned? Google’s resourses can do such massive promotion of this project, that literally everyone will know of it, will know what people in there are doing. And if we clearly explain what exactly this “Kabbalah world” is for, and how it will work to help the world – every day, every minute – Google might actually believe in this.
I wish you all lots of ideas and together we will figure something out!
maybe my thoughts will be useful!! L’Chaim!
Great!
can’t wait to Hear some of the idea’s so that we can Do!
I am really looking forward to this project and the suggestions and ideas that will be forthcoming. Can’t wait until it starts.
The internet is the most amazing tool for connection and Kabbalah has the method
to change our world soul by soul, so the marriage of Google and Kabbalah is definately the answer to making our world a better place!
This is so cool so glad I found this!!!
This is a wonderful opportunity to advance Kabbalah to the world! Why can’t we think of ideas to win this contest? Google should be an amazing support in creating a virtual society of altruists…a virtual holy nation! Let’s get started so we can put the $10,000,000 to good use!
Reading through the introductory paragraph of Google’s “Why this project” page was much like reading through the first part of an introduction to Kabbalah – that, in Google’s words, “beyond a certain very basic level of material wealth, the only thing that increases individual happiness over time is helping other people.”
The only problem is in the question “how do we help other people?”
Congratulations to Google, who claim that they don’t know the answer to the “how” question, and thereby offer money to realize the best ideas on how to create an environment of helping others.
In terms of an idea for this project, I was immediately inspired by Kabbalist Michael Laitman’s statement from his 2-minute “The Needed Shift in Human Consciousness” speech at the 2005 World Wisdom Council conference.
The idea: Create (and constantly develop) a worldwide marketing campaign, which focuses on promoting altruism as the “in-thing” – that we can be respected in society only by our altruistic actions toward others. In other words, we use all sorts of imagery, arts, music, media and culture to make it “cool” and respectable to help/give to/love/think of other people.
Moreover, this question of “how do we help other people?” should continually be raised to the public through this promotion, so that this question constantly resonates in people’s thoughts, and so people will start thinking more about how to fulfill others and less about how to fulfill themselves – that true fulfillment is only through the fulfillment of others.
I am very happy to see the Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education & Research Institute taking the initiative to put efforts into this project, and it will be very interesting to see what the public who is interested in authentic Kabbalah will come up with for this project.
Building Unity through Virtual Connection
We are at a very special point in time where everything is in crisis. People will have no choice but to realize that every part effects the whole, and that we’re all on the same boat. With the financial barriers; the best odds at uniting between us will be in a virtual setting.
Through the dissemination of Bnei Baruch Kabbalah over the internet, lies the awesome opportunity of connecting with other integral parts of our unique system. This idea is from a video I received from from just this type of virtual connection.
Titled: Como Funciona el Internet
This is an animated video in Spanish, and it starts out introducintg different characters/parts of the internet, the functions they serve, and how it all comes together.
The main focus is in the 1.5 minute and a half introduction which includes English sub-titles.
Supported by a cast of millions.
For the first time in history…
People and machinery are
working together, realizing a dream…
A uniting force that knows no
geographical boundaries.
Without regard for race, creed or color.
A new era where communication
truly brings people together.
This is…
The Dawn of the Net.
The individual who sent the video through a page sharing feature on a social networking site, lives in Spain and does not speak English very well. My Spanish is even worse, but we have managed to establish a great rapport. nonetheless.
This idea would be in the category of:
Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don’t fit into any category at all.
Criteria:(you can fill in the blanks)
Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
Longevity: How long will the idea’s impact last?
[Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don’t fit into any category at all.]
Hey people , to-day or yesterday , didn’t you watch at the TV ? isn’t there always a conflict or a war on the screen to make sure you will cry and be anguished ? and in such a way aren’t you ready to be manipulated by hate or fear ?!
In fact who really does want to loose his own life or loose a child , a husband or a wife, a father or a mother, brothers and sisters, cousins, friends ? …everybody feel that something is wrong : who decide such a terrible thing for them in any case, why and what for ?
I suggest to keep a large desert on our eath for every nation and every people who wants to make a war to another one . Doesn’t matter if it is for a good or a bad reason ! they shoud just have to registrate and wait their turn to begin the brave game . Before to start, they should let know to all the world , thanks to Google, exactly what for and against whom they want to struggle. The only weapons authorised should be a ball and nude feet for the men. The arbitrators should be chosen a quarter among the wives, a quarter among the orphelins in all the nations , a quarter among the poorest one in this world , with no material thing or money to loose, and a quarter among the richest people of all the nations who posess yet every thing that money can buy on this earth. The matches and results would be broadcasted , thanks to Google, everywhere at every time by Internet. It would be such ridiculous an exhibition that every fighter will not obey anymore and prefer stay at home with their loved ones, thinking about the aim of their life, and discovering the studdy of Kabbalah where the answer is waiting specially for them.
At this very moment everywhere people and nations should know that a better life for him and his family, without wars and cries, could not occur if his “ennemy” has not get at the same moment a better life for him and his family.
That is my sincere dream for everyone and all of us !
Hi,
I have an idea to submit. Who can I contact to get a second opinion?
This is a really innovative idea Google has, can’t wait to see the outcome.
We need resources for creating a virtual country made up of people that want to make the world a better and safer place, for ours and the coming generations.
We would issue ID’s, virtual passports etc. to each citizen of the New Global Society. It would operate like any popular virtual community except that it would not be for commercial gain in any matter whatsoever.
The new entity would be a gathering place for (non political) great minds (Table of Free Voices), guided by principles of altruism, with the goal of promoting a new educational and ethical system for the world.
@Madlena
Hi,
If you’d like, you can post your idea here, so that everyone can comment on it.
The world really needs help! I like the idea of creating an altruistic virtual state that has no boundries of countries, race, or political views. We have the technology so why don’t we use it to become one world.
originally bb asked for our questions. then i thought they would put their idea’s here for us to develop. now it looks like people are writing in idea’s.
anyhow i LOVE Mark Z’s idea!!!!!!! MAKE ALTURISM COOL! i had a similar idea a while ago. it is simple and easy to do with today’s marketing technique’s.
to re quote Mark: ‘..The idea: Create (and constantly develop) a worldwide marketing campaign, which focuses on promoting altruism as the “in-thing” – that we can be respected in society only by our altruistic actions toward others. In other words, we use all sorts of imagery, arts, music, media and culture to make it “cool” and respectable to help/give to/love/think of other people…’
People i looooove you :)))
I would love to see the suggestion of Josia Nakash above developed to its greatest extent. A completely apolitical/virtual/borderless “country” with all the details of a physical entity but based on altruism. Even if we couldn’t get it under the Google contest umbrella, to implement it as a BB dissemination project with ALL BB members as citizens. The possibilities are endless to project to the world a virtual society based on Kabbalah principles of love for the Creator, and to love ones friend as oneself.
Shalom! Kavana! Arvut! L’Chaim!
I read your posts and I agree that the idea that we can offer to Google’s project is Altruism! The only thing that I’m not sure about is whether we should introduce somewhere (e.g. Q 13 and 14) Kabbalah as the solution/method of correction? What do you think?
What I have came up with here is nothing unique and deals directly with Kabbalistic concepts.
8. Idea’s name: Living in Unity and perfect harmony or Uniting people once again or Altruism is the answer!
9. Category : community
10. What one sentence best describes your idea? (max 150 words)
Realization that the source of the numerous problems that humanity is experiencing lies in the very nature of each and every person: egoism. The solution is to change our egoistic qualities to altruistic ones.
11. Describe you idea in more depth (300 words)
What is egoism? Egoism is the self which separates each person from the people around him. It is a constant calculation of how much pleasure a person can receive for itself without considering the benefit of others. The consequences of such actions are often at the expense of others. This egoistic nature does not manifest itself only on a global or national scale but even in the most basic structure of society: a family. The negative effect that egoism has on our lives is tremendous. It is the cause of wars, crimes, drug abuse, depression, divorce, ecological, social and economic problems. The endless contemplation of oneself is harmful not only to the surrounding people but also to the person itself.
The solution lies in the correction of the source of all problems, egoism. Only altruistic qualities will enable people to unite again and bring peace and harmony to the world on all levels of life. Imagine a world where each one cares for others and in return everyone cares for that person. Such a system of mutual guarantee will unite people and bring us out of misery and depression.
All for one and one for all!
12. What problem or issue does your idea address? (150 words)
All problems and issues.
13. If your idea were to become a reality, who would benefit the most and how? (150 words)
The whole humanity, regardless of gender, age, nationality or religion.
How: through self realization and the desire to change and unite.
14. What are the initial steps required to get this idea off the ground? (150 words)
The first thing that needs to be done is spreading the word across the internet about this idea. The second step is personal and depends on each and every person, i.e. each person has to examine him/herself, to come to a realization that egoism is the source of all problems and that it requires a correction. The third step is for the person to find a practical method that deals directly with egoism and its correction.
15. Describe the optimal outcome should your idea be selected and successfully implemented. How would you measure it? (150 words)
For the whole of humanity to awaken and take responsibility for their actions, whether they are on a personal, social, or global level.
17. You may also submit 1 You Tube video (max 30 seconds long) explaining your project?
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2F4OUaj_poY
Since the video clip can only be 30 seconds, we have to cut some parts, I suggest
Start time: 0:44 min
End time : 1:15 min
18. If you would like to recommend a specific organization, or the ideal type of organization, to execute your plan, please do so here. (50 words)
An integration of Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education & Research Institute and Google.
If thoughts are powerful and we can all ban our thoughts together, the message will be even more powerful. I think we should put our efforts into the idea of spreading truth. The media today is out of control. It spreads a variety of truth but not real honesty. Socrates believed in a universal truth. If we could ask the world to uphold the truths that will make a world a better place then I think it is worth praying for. The truths are to be found in the great religions of the world and the Zohar/kabbalah. Love of neighbor and God will lead to a better mankind. Suffering can be avoided through good deeds toward our fellow human being. Praying for understanding of other needs is important. If enough people can pray for the use of universal truths in the world, then maybe the rest of humanity will be swept up in this message, therefore transforming it.
Wow, there is some good energy flowing on this board. I think that this is a great contest, and that Google has really motivated people to develop wonderful plans.
I, myself, have submitted an idea. My idea deals with creating a more incentive-driven health system. Think about it: wouldn’t you like to get paid for being healthy or be able to “trade” your health to other less healthy family members or friends. Sound interesting…then find out more at the URL website below (by clicking my name “Jonathan”).
Also, full details can be found at http://www.quidproquohealthmanagement.com
Any solution has to come from the people, it has to be from a mass movement and not from leaders of organizations. We need build something based on natural system. Communism was artificial and not natural. Capitalism is a terrible egoistic system that is eating itself inside out but it is a natural system.
Any new system needs to work naturally and evolve simply because it works like a system that is self-developing.
A system that works like nature that sustains itself and will simply replace the less-efficient egoistic system.
This has to be built in a society that moves towards an altruism because a society will always be stronger than individuals.
It needs to work like a ant colony or a bee hive. Even like a wolf pack or something. There is a power in nature that unites. If people see the benefit of this new altruism they were simply abandon the lesser efficient egoistic system
Thanks for listening
Geoffrey
This is a great idea. We got to work together. The chase for more and more material things is not answer. This is clear now.
First of all, thanks to whoever it was from kabbalahblog who commented on our ColaLife idea. We wish we had your video creation skills! A very effective way of getting your message across.
The Colalife idea is much more ‘traditional’ and I guess the outcomes more measurable but I think your idea is a great one too – I’m glad we are are in different categories!
Best of luck, Simon
Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
In nature we observe that when a group is threatened, they instinctively coalesce into a single being working together to avert crisis. This natural self-organization of community is called emergence; the organization of a complex society emerges from the bottom up in a collective demonstration of each individuals evolved instincts.
Social networking as a means of communicating ideas is growing in popularity with more and more social websites being introduced each month. According to the Science of Kabbalah, the emersion and dynamics of social networking structures is developing according to the goal of creation.
Aligned with nature’s model, the virtual environment is ripening for the organization of a complex society to emerge from the bottom up. If we will use internet technology to connect every single person to information and informal education of the single altruistic force of Nature that impels all parts of Nature to exist as organs in a single body, in balance, and in harmony, and within this same connection enter into dialogue to learn from each other, we will grow our wisdom to participate on a higher level with nature, and live responsibly.
Addressing the global crisis we are beginning to see that it is no longer sufficient to simply repair the flaws that we cause nature through technology; change has to occur. And the growing popularity of social networking indicates that at least on some instinctual level we are aware that there is the need for connecting a critical mass of people to affect positive global change, build our community, and protect the unique culture of humanity.
Love your fellow man as yourself?
The Breakthrough Imperative (Human Engagement) must be Simple, Succinct, Poetic, and Empowering.
Simplicity Gets Results!
We need to consider establishing virtual communties around the globe. We should promote the idea of connecting spiritually through a network of web-based community sites where people can interact and share ideas for bring the world together through spiritual connections. To begin, we simply need a few people in numerous countries and then begin the effort to spread the cause. We only need th correct desire, effort, and imagination and we can make it happen.
Google deserves kudos for its philanthropy and vision. Many fine ideas will flow because of this contest. Is there one solution, one idea that would make the world a better place? We can embrace altruism. After all, that is what this is really about.
The internet is a marvelous way of rallying people around a cause and advertisers of all kinds of products have the benefit of this. Now we can use this vehicle to rally around something marvelous. Many of us sit with good ideas and do nothing about it because we lack the push. The energy created by this project is wonderful and gives the drive that people need to finally get that great idea of the shelf!!
Zimmermans suggestion rocks! I thought about another suggestion that I thought was pretty good, but in contrast to this one it’s nothing! It a perfect fit to Googles question “what would help? And help most?”
They already focused the sought after effect to be an increase in individual happiness, and the basis of the competition is the scientific finding that helping others is what makes us happy.
Thus, a concrete and realizable suggestion as to what can make people help others more, which in turn makes us happy, in my eyes is the optimal answer.
Perhaps it can also be argued to solve the financial and/or ecological crises at the root.
To make this world a better place we, have to start thinking better thoughts. These are thoughts about how to make other people feel and function better. When most people do this you will feel that the world has become a much better place.
I feel that Bnei Baruch has the best ideas, cheers!
The current global financial crisis is causing a great deal of fear and suffering. Per haps there is a way to discuss the opportunities of this crisis in virtual groups. Perhaps a movement could be started to examine this ramapnt spread of Consumerism and how all these increased desires for things may actually be the desire for something else.
Create publications or television program or movie or blog or all of the above that shines the spot light on nothing but good news and good deeds being done in the worrld by people we have never heard of. The goal is to begin a process of making it more popular to be a person who does good than a person who only wants to attain for them self.
It seems prety straightforward, we’re all in this together, either we act as one or we fail individually
We need to start thinking and feeling outside of our skins and our own interests. If we could only achieve that then instead of only yourself servicing you everyone else will be! Imagine how much love it can be there, just stretch your hand! It is there, but we are enclosed from it by our own self-interest. Viscous cycle? Not any more. The time has come to start opening our hands and hearts. It is infinitely hard and yet worth trying.
Today’s crises – and history’s as well – is entirely due to rampant self-interest. Though this self-interest is an intrinsic quality of mankind, altruism is possible. And the way I see it, altruism is not only possible, but paramount to building a peaceful and sustainable society.
The solution to all the problems in the world – yes ALL the problems – the solution to all the problems in the world is the same. It is universal and it reaches all of humanity, every single person, and every single thing on the planet.
The only thing that will really fix anything, will fix everything. Yes, EVERYTHING!
The solution is seemingly simple; the challenge is helping everyone see and understand this truth for themselves. The solution is that humanity must realize that it is the broken connection among ourselves that is the real cause of all the problems we see across the globe. We must mend this broken inner connection. We must re-connect ourselves. Only re-establishing that severed spiritual connection among all of humanity can save all humans and everything else on earth.
The superglue that can put us back together is our realizing we are a single spiritual organism each interdependent on the other, and then following the steps to reassemble ourselves as the one spiritual entity we are while we remain outwardly independent.
Can we inspire all the people on the planet to take a look within, to look for that connection, and to find that connection that already exists, to see that awareness that awaits them? Can we mobilize a Global Look in Your Heart and See- Our Hearts Beat as One?
we should take the worlds most approaching problem the economy for instance and give it an answer with a kabbalah slant without actually using kabbalah words.
I think by now hardly anyone in the world disagrees that egoism, selfish thoughts and consumption cause all the problems. The real question is how to change it?
Unlike all other methods Kabbalah knows that it can only be corrected by the Upper Light that created it, and only if we ask for it.
So I think the suggestion to Google should be something very simple that would make a person realize that he indeed is an egoist and no matter what he does, he can’t behave truely altruistically. For instance, it could be a task of ‘one good deed a day month,’ without defining what a ‘good deed’ might be. Let people experiment, and record their experiences in on-line space, e.g. “One good deed a day month” on-line community/ site/ blog or a video game.
With Google’s support, it could grow into a nice initiative and undego some interesting methamorphosis in itself. But at some point, there will come a realization–whether silent or public– that one does not have an inner fuel to do it constantly or does it from purely egoistic motives.
Once a person realizes it, he will seek a solution – and that’s inner prayer.
So the bottom line is that I think the Google’s solution should be simple, something that every person could do without much investment, that would start innocently (“hey, I can do one good deed a day”), but in the process will make a person realize that he needs to ask for an inner change. No need to mention Kabbalah, just to tell that we all need to try behaving as nature does – altruistically – for a month and see how it changes the world.
The events making the news today create a fertile ground for presenting a method promoting the worldwide cooperation of humans. We have to emphasize our interconnections, and how dependent we are on each other.
Leah this is a great idea! How great would it be to have One good deed a day month” on-line community/ site/ blog or a video game and simultaneously Mark Zimmerman’s suggested a worldwide marketing campaign…
A WINNING COMBINATION TO WAKE UP THE WORLD!
We understand what the problem is and we understand that B’nei Baruj has the right answer because we see the changes in ourselves and the cure that have healed us and our families through our efforts in the study and the work in the group. This healing is a process of growth that will bring us to something bigger and better than we could have ever imagined: eternal adhesion with the source of life!
The question is how do we make the world understand this?
We ought to ask the psychologists within B’nei Baruj. How do you cause somebody to listen to you?
My undestanding of one model of human interaction put out by psychology is the following:
Thoughts cause feelings
Feelings cause actions
Actions cause reactions
It follows that what we need to do is stimulate thoughts. As a mother I have found that the best way for me to do that is by asking good questions. (telling your kids -or anybody else- that you kow the right answer does NOT work.)
So for the google project, I would call for the creation of a panel of scientists, psychologists and economists and i would give them the task of solving the following questions:
What is the root of the globlal crisis?
How did we get to this point?
Can we cure anything without knowing what is the cause, the root of the illness?
At that point I would ask the panel to bring forth their ideas for a solution, and I would ask Rav Laitman to present the perspective that Kabbalah has to offer.
If you want to be heared, you need to first cause your target audience to want to hear what you have to say.
Simple mama’s psychology
Now, that financial crisis has erupted and has touched the most successful, hence the most self assured layers of the society, the idea of change from egoism to altruism has a much better chance to be supported by a wider population.
Altruism as a term though, could still be rejected, if not properly explained. Many still understand altruism simply as a redistribution of material goods, which sounds like a socialist idea in Russia or Kibbutzim in Israel. Both failed, as we know.
The real meaning of the word and the solution to global crisis are from a slightly different realm. I would entrust explaining and delivery of the system/methodology of working with your ego to Bnei Baruch as the organization, which has proved being thoughtful of the needs of people all around the world by developing such method in 35 languages (!)
What a wonderful opportunity! How about creating TV or film fictional movies that present the concepts of Kabbalah and would appeal to the masses, something like the Matrix?
I am not sure we can submit anything that would pass the submission criteria of the contest:
Criteria:
1. Reach: How many people would this idea affect? – Undefined. Everyone according to Baal HaSulam
2. Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need? – The depth is ultimate but the urgency is yet to materialize (even given the current finnacial crisis)
3. Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two? – not with a 10mln dollar investment and undeveloped execution strategy
4. Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea? – The Kabbalah method is not simple. The ideas behind it are, but not the method. Cost-effective – hard to calculate.
5. Longevity: How long will the idea’s impact last? –
To Eternity and Beyond! (Buzz Light (c))
So, in general, the ideas Google is looking for are quite different from the dissemination of the Baal HaSulam’s Kabbalah study technique. The idea behind the dissemination of Kabbalah is too broad and unquantifiable to make it through the 10^100-like contests.
Kabbalah is a new ideology than a technical solution to specific challenge that humanity is facing (i.e. production and storage of the renewable energy, state failures) and google’s of the world are trying to find a quick fix to.
Changing human nature is the key, there is no doubt. The question is how to do it in the most painless way possible…
The nutshell’s been cracked: Inside, there’s this super-cool-phantasmagorical-perfectly-perfect-ultra-dynamic-sub atomic- particle of “Love and Unity” Its abilities are unbounded.
We see it here and everywhere.
As Joseph Harrington stated:
The Breakthrough Imperative (Human Engagement) must be Simple, Succinct, Poetic, and Empowering.
Simplicity Gets Results!
I think it’s clear that when we peel back the layers of all coomplex problems, we can see the simple definitive problem is egoism; therefore the simple definitive action for a solution is bestowal and that begins with the individual and ends with the world thought collectively.
Sandra
Hi folks;
I submitted a proposal for Project Ingenesist. This is a new financial system where money is pegged to innovation – not gold, silver, or debt (like the current fianancial crisis).
It’s a system and method for making knowledge tangible in Social Networks and outside the construct of corporations, banks, government – the ones that got us into trouble in the first place.
Everyone benefits because we’ll be released from the shackles of debt economics. It’s cool and I am hoping that people here would review it at:
http://www.ingenesist.com (see 10^100 page)
If I am right about this, when the dollar crashes – and it will, people will begin trading Rollads (spelled backwards) in the innovation economy.
